Why Montmorency?
Tart cherries are small and bright red with pale, juicy insides and a sour taste. The sweet cherries are the bigger, darker cherries with a sweet taste, and most likely the ones you find in your local fruit market. You probably won’t come across fresh Montmorency cherries, unless you live in one of the growing regions.

The Mighty Montmorency
The Montmorency is a variety of tart cherries, related to the darker, larger variety of sweet cherries. This particular cherry is known for its sour taste and greater nutritional benefits. For instance, one serving of Montmorency cherries contains 20 times more vitamin A and 5 times more antioxidants compared to the sweet variety. Montmorency cherries are rich in antioxidants and contain potent, naturally-occurring phytonutrients, including anthocyanins and melatonin, which have been linked to a variety of health benefits.
